Canada launches New Pilot Program - Rural and Northern Immigration

The Rural and Northern Immigration Pilot is a community-run community-run program.This pilot program is meant to expand the advantages of economic immigration to small communities by creating a permanent residence path for skilled foreign workers and need to participate.

About the process

There are 4 steps to apply for a permanent residence under this pilot

  • 1. Check that the two of you meet
    • IRCC eligibility requirements and
    • Community-Specific Needs
  • 2. Find an employer-eligible job in one of the participating communities
  • 3. Once you are offered a job, submit your application to the community for a recommendation
  • 4. If a community recommends you, apply for a permanent residence

A. What you can expect from a community

  • Fit the economic needs of these communities to the best of their ability
  • There is a real job opportunity that caters to their community needs
  • Intends to remain in the community

B. Recommend candidates for permanent residence with the IRCC for a final decision

C. Connect with newcomers to settlement services and mentorship opportunities with established community members
